Meet TrAVIS
Travis is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 15 years of experience working in various mental health settings including psychiatric hospitals, community mental health clinics, and a drug and alcohol rehab. He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2008, from Texas A&M University, and his master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2015, from Sam Houston State University. With a passion for helping individuals, Travis has worked in private practice for three years utilizing CBT, DBT, and mindfulness techniques to achieve client goals.
He now lives in the small Central American country of Belize, with his wife and dogs, providing teletherapy and virtual coaching services to clients. Over time, Travis has found the format of therapy limiting due to it focusing on diagnosing client illnesses and having insurance dictate treatment. Coaching provides a more holistic and strengths-based approach focused on tangible solutions.
Travis’ coaching method focuses on helping clients manage stress, prioritize their mental health, and prevent personal and professional burnout. Not everyone meets the criteria for a psychological diagnosis, but all people experience stress and anxiety. Stress is a response to a tangible problem like work, finances, or relationship conflict. Anxiety is an internal worry or fear that manifest happen without a trigger. Travis works with clients on understanding emotions, developing coping skills, setting healthy boundaries, and challenging negative thoughts.
